The Lord's Prayer: Our Father Who Art in Heaven

The Rev. Dr. Paula V. Mehmel

Pastor Paula begins her sermon series on The Lord's Prayer with a discussion about the opening words. While the image of God as Father can be a great comfort to some, she addresses why it can also be a block to people who may struggle with their earthly parent or an image of a male God.  By reframing the focus on the relationship of intimacy that Jesus uses in the prayer, she explores ways to open up the prayer to everyone who desires to turn to our Creator with a level of trust and love that allows us to rest in the loving arms of our Heavenly Parent.

Opening; Scriptures-2:07;  Message-4:02;  Song "What A Friend We Have in Jesus" 16:08;  Community Connection-18:25;  Closing-23:00

Scripture Texts- Romans 8:12-17  New Revised Standard Version; Galatians 4:5-7  The Message; 1 John 3:1-2 The Good News Version
