The Shepherd Psalm: You Anoint My Head with Oil

The Rev. Dr. Paula V. Mehmel

Pastor Paula continues her series on the Shepherd Psalm--Psalm 23.  Each week she  takes a portion of the Psalm and connect sit with our lives, as she explores how a Psalm about something like sheep herding, which few of us know much about, has become one of the most beloved texts in all of Scripture.  This week she looks at the words "You anoint my head with oil"  She explores how David both understood anointing from anointing the heads of sheep and being anointed as King by Samuel and how we too have been protected and chosen by God.  As part of God's realm, we are invited to claim who we are as a royal priesthood and work to bring in the reign of God, knowing we matter to God.
